There is no technical support for a performance claim on this stream today. The honest offer is material for a trial, not a qualified product.

  • No ASTM C618 or C1709 characterization: no strength activity index, no fineness, no loss on ignition, no SO3 and no available alkali.
  • No particle size distribution measured to a standard method.
  • Not a qualified supplementary cementitious material. Because the composition sits in the blast furnace slag family, ASTM C989 is the right comparison to draw, and it is a comparison of chemistry rather than a qualification.
  • At roughly 4 tons a month, this stream cannot support a supply agreement of meaningful size.

About Mineral Fines

Is this a pozzolan?

Unproven. The chemistry is amorphous calcium-aluminosilicate, which is the family that pozzolanic and latent hydraulic materials come from, but reactivity is established by testing and none has been run. ASTM C1709 with a strength activity index per ASTM C311 is the right first step.

How does it compare to silica fume?

It does not, and anyone who told you otherwise was wrong. Silica fume is over 85% silicon dioxide with primary particles around 0.15 micron. This is 35 to 45% silicon dioxide at under 75 micron, several hundred times coarser. The right comparison is ground granulated blast furnace slag under ASTM C989.

Can I buy a truckload every month?

Not from this stream. It runs about 4 tons a month. If you need volume in a fine powder, ask about SecondLife Mineral Microfiller instead.
